What is that smell in Rotorua?

The smell in Rotorua is caused by the sulfur gases emitted by the geothermal activity in the area. The sulfur is naturally occurring and is a result of the geothermal activity, which includes hot springs, geysers, and mud pools. The gases mix with the air and create the distinctive sulfurous odor that is often associated with Rotorua.

What is the best Hotel in Rotorua?

The best hotel overall is Rydges Rotorua (formerly Holiday Inn Rotorua) it is a high standard 4 star hotel. It has a great heated pool, and the location is also excellent, it’s close to Redwoods and Whakarewarewa, rather than in the CBD.
